Founded in 1961 by partners Green Mancini and Kenneth Weida, Canton Gear Manufacturing & Designing Co. has been a trusted name in precision gearing for over 65 years. From our beginnings on Waynesburg Drive to our current home in downtown Canton, Ohio, we’ve built a reputation for craftsmanship, reliability, and customer-focused solutions.

In 1978, the Weida family purchased Canton Gear and has continued to grow the company’s capabilities, expanding its reach and reputation in the gear manufacturing industry.

Today, we produce high-quality gears ranging from 3/8" to 60" in diameter, working with materials such as steel, cast iron, stainless steel, bronze, brass, aluminum, plastics, and phenolics.

Our expertise includes all major gear types — spur, helical, internal splines, involute and straight-sided, bevels, miters, racks, worms, and worm gears — each manufactured to the highest standards of precision and performance.

In 2021, we took another step forward in our commitment to excellence by pursuing Aerospace certification, positioning Canton Gear to serve even more specialized and demanding industries.
